Sony Vaio Wireless Problems Vista
Having trouble with my new router N .. wi-fi?
Three months ago I bought a new Vaio laptop and a new router Lynksys N. I am taking the computer portable from one job to another where there is a greater Lynksys G router at work. I can connect to the network at both sites, but when connected at home I have to type the IP address and DNS server information to operate manually. If this information is not in there wont work at all. To connect to the office I have to change settings to obtain IP and DNS automatically. That's the way it should be. To make a long story that my neighbors are able to use my router at home your apartment without having to manually type in anything. This leads me to believe that my computer is the problem?? I have Windows Vista and Sony Vaio Laptop. Please help
You probably have something set up wrong - as a fixed IP for the work that is not good in the router at home. The simplest way to correct, IMO, is to download NetSetMan. , Just click on home or office or whatever configuration you have (I use 4, home, office, my sister-in-law and my niece's house - everyone is different, printer names are different, etc.) The other solution is to actually figure what is wrong. (Perhaps the IT people at work can help?)
