internet problems with new sony vaio?

I'm an idiot when it comes to laptops ... but im trying to access the internet on my sony vaio (VGN-nw265f). im not using any device connected to this and I'm just trying to access the Internet wirelessly as I should be able to. the single access point without a security code has 2 bars out of five is still good but my computer refuses to connect to it. I'm not sure if this can be avoid, if not then what are my options? thanks

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop, and I have a lot of internet connection problems in it. First, not all the area all have free wireless Internet, you may have to buy their own root or usb to connect to the Internet. Sometimes I can climb a "linksys" network for free, but normally I connect to my wireless Internet family we have in the house. Once I connect to the internet many times I have trouble reaching the limited "local connection only" and not the Internet. To fix this I disconnect, reconnect and wait five or ten minutes, then normally work. Another thing you want to check is that the switch to turn off wireless internet is on, because it took me ages to find out once it had accidentally hung up. Good luck, hope that helped
