Sony Vaio Xp Recovery Cd

Sony Vaio Xp Recovery Cd

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32 ntoskrnl.exe

So I a Sony Vaio Pcg-VX89 laptop, and all of a sudden, I came to this error, and I can not enter Windows at all. I arrive at the Sony screen, then goes black during about 15 minutes, then shows me the error. All I can do is the BIOS. I looked online, and everyone says to insert the bootable CD of Windows XP and reinstall Windows. Well great, that, except for my laptop will not boot from the CD. It has a removable CD-ROM. I inserted my System Recovery CD that came with the laptop, did not work. I also made a new bootable CD and tried, but did not work. Incidentally, I got into the BIOS and set the CD-ROM at the top of the list. No worked. I thought maybe it could be that the unit is considered a removable device, so I tried to put that first, and still didn't work. I did same with a removable disk drive, tried a boot disk, but still didn't work. Also, I replaced the hard drive, and does the same thing: / How can I fix this? Thank you!

If you can not get the system to boot from the CD, things are very serious and I think you should probably take him to a workshop local repair a look. Sorry, I'm sure he really did not want to hear that.
