Sony Vaio Wireless Problems

I bought a Sony Vaio which has a wireless chip, but I'm having problems connecting to my Netgear router, help?

The Vaio has Vista. I have a laptop Dell I have a wireless card from Netgear. I should not have to change to make the right Sony? You should connect automatically. I'm so illiterate, Please Help! I do not know if I havee WEP? How can I check it out? lol

Do you have WEP - basically a password created on the router to configure it? If you do, you need to add the settings to your Sony. If open and anyone should have access, then check your wireless connection and adds a profile on the Sony to find the router.
