Sony Vaio Wireless Connection Setup
Sony Vaio Wireless Connection Setup
Seeking advice on WI-FI connection suddenly went wrong?
I had been using this configuration of Wi-Fi for almost 4 years without any trouble. Although I was connecting two ends of my house, apartment, had always been able to connect reliably at 11Mbps. Suddenly, the connection too bad these days. I see the five bars on the list of access points, but just to connect. I am well off or degraded at 1 or 2 mbps. I suspect the interference of my neighbors in my house (I can see many other networks guaranteed) and have tried all 11 channels on my Netgear router, but none of the channels seem to have better connections through other. My of the Intel PRO / Wireless LAN 2100 in my Sony Vaio does not have a channel configuration in the advanced properties but I can connect if they approach the router (any channel). I disabled power saving on my Vaio. I'm not being connected to my neighbor's networks. All my equipment including Wi-Fi router only supports 802.1b. I have tried to turn on / off the router and moving it around.
This is caused by radio interference from devices using the same frequency as 802.11b (2.4GHz). Wireless phones, microwave ovens, refrigerator compressors, etc. can all be the culprit. They can be at home or in the rest of the building. If your home, try unplugging your wireless phone, if 2.4GHz. Have you tried to connect to the router using an Ethernet cable? If so, does the same problem? If so, call your ISP.
