Features of the Sony Vaio X

No one can argue about the credentials of design X Series VAIO. At 12.2mm, it is just as thick as a iPhone, and its matte black finish is reminiscent of a sheet of graphite (the rarity of its design is brown background only). Even the screen marks admiring gasps: it is wafer thin, measuring 4.4 mm when pressed gauges around.

The main chassis is equally scarce. It's so skinny D-SUB port on the right side looks large. There is not even room for a conventional network port, but instead of forcing people to carry around an adapter, Sony has managed to create a port of hinge: when you want to use, the idea is to raise two small feet and this gives room to expand the hinge enough to slot in the cable.

Like other notebooks Sony, the keyboard on the VAIO X is the style of the island, but 88 percent of full size is a little smaller than most netbooks with 10 - to 12-inches. 9.5 x 3.5 inches, the keyboard is half inch smaller in both senses of the Toshiba NB205 mini, although the X VAIO has a bigger keyboard package. This is because there are a half inch of space on either side of the keyboard.

Also notable is the Vaio touchpad that supports multi-touch input. This allows gestures like pinch, along with two fingers to zoom in, for example. A pair of flip-feet under the chassis of the lifts in a corner of the keypad when at a desk, and found the VAIO X Series easy to use when sitting on his lap and, as the screen can be pushed quite far back to a proper angle.

Thus, while it was a 'wow' factor of the machine, Sony decided to try a cheaper netbook with Atom W VAIO which stuck to the regular form factor you'll find in most netbooks, but with the VAIO appearance. The W was not too bad of an effort, and was valued at a cheaper range comparable to other netbooks. Sure, are almost similar to other netbooks as well, but well, it's a Sony product you're talking about.

Now fast-forward only a few months later, and Sony has unveiled its latest netbook, the VAIO X. This time, the X seems set to Razzle Dazzle and the form factor super slim design light and heavy price. Of course, the magnesium alloy chassis and carbon fiber frame of the notebook is not cheap for anyone, but gives it an air that is perfect for business users this netbook is aimed a. How perfect you ask? Let's find out more about the next few pages, but let's start with our usual photos exterior and the top box specifications.

Results on a hard drive PCMark 05 tests were definitely up there compared to his usual 5400 RPM handily beat netbooks from ASUS, so we have no complaint there. In general, show that the Intel Atom Z550 compared to better manage the N280, but its main advantage is still the energy savings associated with its lower power requirement to develop and TDP despite having a higher clock speed.

There are two USB ports on the left side of the chassis, plus a headphone jack, while the media slots for Memory Stick and SD cards take the lead. And that's your lot. The rest of this design is minimalist. Apart from a wireless switch, buttons to press are only two for the simple touchpad and the keyboard itself.

We were skeptical of Sony claimed eight hours of battery Vaio X Series, especially after seeing the thinness of the battery on the basis of the unit. However, the unit lasted five hours and 18 minutes in our battery tests using reference Eater Pro, which is an impressive score for so thin and light notebook. We tested the Vaio in its delivery configuration, unless the suspension to screen and disk timeouts were disabled to prevent the system off the backlight or go to sleep, while the test battery life was running. Users may experience a shorter life battery currently in use, depending on how heavily they use wireless communications, but should still be able to get several hours of use of the Vaio before a recharge necessary.
