Sony Vaio Vista Problems
Sony Vaio Vista Problems

just bought a Sony VAIO with Windows Vista Home Premium and want to put XP?
Asus my Sony VGN-n31s / W and Iv'e been said that no drivers out there I can not install Windows XP there is a way to do this, please can someone help me with this problem
No problem at all to install Windows XP on this laptop, I have done, and I recommend it for the following reasons: - Vista is buggy, and there are still plenty of drivers and software can not install in it - is likely to be full of unpatched security holes that have not yet found - the default installation of Vista that comes with the laptop has a lot of space harrdisk, and full of bloat. The hard drive on this laptop is not massive anyway, so it's best to make the best use of space. Please mind that if you have installed Windows XP no Vista disk with this laptop, but there is a key. So if you want to reinstall Vista at any time, it is likely to contact Sony for a record. I have not tried it yet, but I have said often quite useful. Install Windows XP in the usual way (set in the BIOS to boot from the CD, the format and installation). All the drivers you need are not on the website of Sony, however, the lovely people at Intel have made every chipset drivers on their website so you do not need them. This is information about the chipset used in the VGN-N31S / W (using the Intel 945GM chipset): http://support.intel.com/products/chipsets/ This is 945GM/index.htm graphics driver (Windows XP only select and download): http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2301 Information Audio Driver: CS-009244.htm http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/ wireless controller was a little harder, I have it, I just found with him because I've installed Linux on my machine and was trying to get ndiswrapper working. It's just one. Inf file that need to make it work, which may point to Windows through the Device Manager. I can not remember life where I got it from, but if you have problems with it, send me an email and I will send mail a copy. Linux is also installed very well on this laptop, I am using Kubuntu with Beryl on it at the time and works perfectly. Only one cares Funda, wifi was the only thing that was a bit of a mission: To get wireless working on this laptop in Kubuntu, you must remove Knetworkmanager (Knetworkmanager is not loaded module WEP / WPA support wlan_wep). Through the installation of experts, the search for "WPA" and you will see Kwlan, and GUI for wpa_supllicant. Install Kwlan Knetworkmanager will eliminate at the same time, and install all the components Kwlan and wpa_supplicant in the name. Then, when you start Kwlan, choose the madwifi driver (which is already installed on your operating system), and only have to work! Hope this helps and let us know how you're doing!
