Sony Vaio Video Card Updates
Sony Vaio Video Card Updates
If I had to upgrade the RAM, would be better able to play video games on my Sony VAIO?
The graphics card is an Intel GMA X3100. I'm not so computer savvy. It's kind of sad reality. My laptop comes with 2 gigs, but I think the maximum is 4. It runs Vista Premium. The game that I want to play is the Sims 2 and the soon to Sims 3. In the normal course. Any other game that can cope with the guess. = (I know, without a PC good, does not even play Oblivion. Oh, and for those who might ask, I have more than enough hard disk space. I have not bought a compatible version Windows Vista yet. I do not want to spend the money and then discover it does not work. I'm having the user only in the house. Even Ha Rember have asked this before. P = Good. Second opinions are never neglected.
I regret to say that the improvement of RAM will do little to improve their game. What games will slow (unbearably slow in some games) will be the video card (Intel GMA X3100). Explanation of why: A demanding game, Crysis (worse than oblivion at any configuration), typically uses about 800-900 MB of RAM (on my desktop configuration on average), the video card map about 358 MB and Vista will use about 800 MB. This brings the total to about 2 GB. Any game that requires more RAM is likely to require more powerful video card also (which can not be updated). I also found an article about the Sims 2, which covers what better game (I worked well with 1 GB in XP). Personal note: Reduce the swap file (right click on My Computer from the Start menu, click "Properties", "Advanced Configuration system "," Performance "(the first thing on the Advanced tab, go to configure the" "click on the tab "Switch" "Virtual Memory", uncheck "Automatically ...." and establish both the initial and the maximum amount to 512, then click "Set", accept everything and restart your laptop (My Vista is in Spanish, so excuse the bad translation). I found disabling the page file will result in error and this amount has been quite acceptable for my needs (I also play games on my laptop, which also has 2 GB of RAM). I disabled SuperFetch also because that made my drive crazy:)) (http://www.technipages.com/vista-enabledisable-superfetch.html explains how to). consequences of their actions: to reduce the swap file, whan you play a game that can run out of memory. Please disable SuperFetch accidents get much. By Finally, If you want to upgrade your RAM can do it, but there will be little benefit from it.
