I have a Sony Vaio Laptop VGN-tx2xp .. has a CD MATSHITIA UJ 832D how to check if I can write?

I'm not sure if this is a player or recorder ... please guide me how to check it .. when I'm trying to write sensekey gives error code (3) asc (73) Ascq (3)

try this>> right click on any folder or image in the box that opens select> Send to> your CD / DVD in section E unit should be there if you can record and play
