How can I get a color image when I connect my laptop to my TV using a S video to scart cable?

I am using a Sony Vaio Cr11s and a Sony Bravia television. When connected I can only get an image in black and white TV screen. I have tried to alter the display settings on your computer (to adjust the color depth of 32 bits for control 2). I have tried to change the contrast so the channel signal reception. I connect the cable before changing both the computer and TV. Should I change my computer output (NTSC / PAL) and if so, how can I do? There should be a simple answer, but all I'm trying not seem to work .. It's driving me crazy!

S-Video is not just about the worst possible way for you to connect your Vaio to Bravia. Forget that the low quality analog picture, S-Video shit. Most Bravia HDTVs have a VGA port, and I'm sure his CR11S has one too. Use a standard VGA cable! Even better, if your Bravia with HDMI ports and if your CR11S have either a DVI or HDMI, use a DVI to HDMI or HDMI cable - which is the best way because the signal is digital broadband.
