Are SSD drives that can not be installed in an old Sony Vaio Pcg-notebook R505EL?

If not, what are the specifications to look for in a disc suitable replacement drive? Is there a size limit?

I think not. SSD drives are a relatively new technology. Better to have a IT professional to check the machine to see what hard drives are compatible with it, then you can upgrade for you.
