Sony Vaio Screen Problems Lines

I have a problem with my laptop monitor. I have a Sony Vaio Windows XP.

The monitor continues to appear with red and blue lines on the loading screen before logon. After those two problems have occurred the monitor just seems to stay black, and I can not do anything with a black screen. Someone knows what is wrong?

You may have a bad video adapter on the motherboard ... Visit the Sony website for updates to the specific model of your computer to see if a update the adapter drivers fixes the problem? If not, then the adapter is bad and will need replacing.
