System crashes after adding RAM?

Okay, so here are the details. RB42G I have a Sony Vaio with 1GB of RAM, Pentium 4 (3.00GHz), 320GB Hard Drive, and an ATI Radeon X1050 Video Card. I think this may be relevant for what is added, well, I have a 300W PSU. I recently purchased RAM (2 x 512MB made by Dynet ... do not really know what to do, but the specs matched with my RAM settings), and added that to my PC, as it runs in dual mode channel. I put them both in their respective places in slots 2 and 4. It started fine until it came time to load the RAM with applications. Only blocks so soon as something comes into RAM. The funny thing is that when booting in safe mode, the computer is fine and I have no problem at all. This verifies that I have 2GB of RAM, and a small problem with the video performance, but other than that, everything is fine. Any help is appreciated.

You say that 2x 512Mb RAM installed but now have 2Gb. No kidding, but I'm assuming that you have four places to add RAM and each is occupied by 512. (I Sony only had 2 seats RAM) Although it is assumed that no difference, mixing RAM from different manufacturers may cause problems. 512MB of RAM is cheap these days I suggest you buy two more 512Mb RAM, which are the same as those currently installed.
