A ™ € Laymanâ s team: 12 Steps to an efficient and friendly team

Most items used are written for computers computer savvy individuals. However, this article is written for novice users. Like any normal computer user, I have gone through frustration of the slow start, data loss, often starting and restarting, etc. I understand your pain and sympathize with them.

Over 5-6 years to use the same computer that still has a lot, I think I can give some suggestions for the average computer users to use their computers in an efficient and pleasant.

The basic message here is keep things simple on your computer. In general, I found most commercial software very problematic. Unless it is absolutely necessary to have one, do some research before buying one. On the contrary, and pleasantly free software I have found many much better behaved and less complicated for the team memory. Most free software can be downloaded from the CNET download site (http://www.download.com/). Beware of any sites selling free software program.

For starters, you want to buy a computer that can perform all the tasks you want done. Do not buy more expensive equipment available will be obsolete in a matter of weeks. Five years ago I bought a Sony PCV-RS530G that I still love you use. I have increased the memory to 2GB and adds a bonus DVD recorder. In addition, I have a 250GB external hard drive that is occasionally used for computer backup.

Immediately after buying the team at Sony, which took too long to start and go through several routines before I could login. After taking advice my kids computer savvy and reading several articles, gradually came to the following solutions that anyone could use to run your computer efficiently.

  1. The first program to provide that the burden would be CCleaner (Cleaner crepe, freeware from CNET's download.com).

  2. Using CCleaner, delete all installed software providers that are not absolutely required to run the team. Call customer service provider to make sure or check the Google search utility of any software installed. For example, I eliminated all Sonya ™ € s of related programs with the media (Click to DVD, DVgate, PictureGear, SonicStage and VAIO Media Software).

  3. Remove the trial or based on children's commercial limited duration installed by the dealer: Norton Antivirus software, Quicken, etc.

  4. To defend against viruses and spyware I use two programs Free: Windows Defender, and Threatfire. Both do great work for the protection of the computer while non-intrusive and running in the background.

  5. For multimedia use Picasa, Windows Media Player, iTunes, DVD Shrink, and Deep Burner.

  6. To play most media files without running too many media players can be downloaded € â € oek-Lite codec pack.

  7. For use, as described above, I use CCleaner. CCleaner is easy to use and very helpful in maintaining computerâ ™ € s sanity. Using CCleaner can specify what programs start with the boot of the computer. If a program is not necessary to start with the home team up, un-check it. CCleaner allows you to delete junk files, delete log files old or unused, and any program safely. The routine use of CCleaner team keep sane. I suggest using once a week.

  8. Another software utility that I like is Belarc Advisor. Belarc will keep you abreast of hardware, software, and the state of computer security.

  9. In instead of Microsoft Office, use Open Office. Open Office is free and allows you to save documents and files in Microsoft Office. Instead of Acrobat Reader, I use Foxit Reader

  10. Instead of Windows Outlook, I use Mozilla Thunderbird. You can use any Web browser. However, like Mozilla Firefox. I avoid using Yahooo € ™ s bar tools and e-mail from Yahoo, and instead of using Gmail. Using Gmail can download all emails to your desktop based on the program e-mail and Thunderbird.

  11. Importantly, before you install or remove any program, back up your computer, create system restore point, and then install the program. If you encounter any problems after installing a program, you can always return to the previous state of the computer.

  12. Check the fragmentation of the computer through the Windows program, at least once a month and defrag if necessary.

Note that all programs are ready to download freeware.

If you have any problems with any of these programs, drop me an e-mail to lbg977@yahoo.com and I may be able to help.

Enjoy your computer!
