backlight on the computer screen?

I bought a Sony VAIO PCG-K35 laptop series and the screen is black enough. If you look very closely and taking note that you can see a vague image. When starting the Windows black screen 'splash', where it says Windows XP with a green bar at the bottom .. looks well, but when the windows will go very, very dark. I assumed that would have to replace the screen, but while watching the screen price I found the words a backlight. Is anyone familiar with that? Is that something you should try before replacing the screen? The computer is connected to my desktop monitor and so I tried adjusting the brightness, etc. .. Any suggestions would be helpful. Is there a way to test out the screen once your computer?

The backlight is an integral part of the screen. replacement of the backlight is the screen repair. All laptop screens using cables tape. unless you have a test created by Sony, you do not have the connector or the video card to work off the laptop screen. I hope which is still under warranty.
