The new equipment that comes with Vista by default are more likely to use the SATA hard disk that is not detectable by Windows XP discs unless you have files driver on a floppy disk to the SATA drive, Windows XP installs easily on any IDE hard drive, because the driver already on the XP but with the SATA disk is not everything you have to do is find out their series SATA numbder or general brand and model you will find on the Sony website and upload it to the XP setup screen and your good to go
