No response when the components of the laptop USB connected, or the lack of recognition of devices. Is there a solution?

I SP2 running Windows Vista on a Sony Vaio Laptop. Recently, I tried to install a driver for a USB mobile phone, which in some so caused the computer to stop responding to inputs from an external hard drive and keyboard and mouse. I tried using Driver detector to find the controllers who seem to be there, but the team is not seen. I also plugged in an iPod, and was only able to load it. I have tried a system restore and it seems that all different ports have the same problem. Does anyone have any idea?

Try going to the website of Sony support and reinstalling the drivers you think were made. If that fails, try uninstalling the drivers before installing the drivers from the support website of Sony. If you have external hardware, go to websites and United Nations and reinstall the drivers for those too. I would do a system restore point before trying any of these just in case something worse.
