Voltage Compatibility Issues U.S. - Europe?
Hello, I just got this new Sony Vaio Laptop U.S. delivered to Europe. We 225 V plugs here. In the back of the laptop that said DC 19.5 V. knew that the only way to know if it works in reality was that connect So I did that and did not explode! It is now in progress. Does that mean that the laptop can cope with the increased tension or should I wait to see that sometimes ignite soon? I thought I would not have started at all if it was not compatible ... there must be some security measures that prevent burning .. or ..!?.. Feel free to informed opinion. It will help me sleep better. Thank you.
It is the 19.5 V DC you need to worry - is the input voltage AC / DC adapter that came with your laptop. Most team AC / DC adapter (converter) units are rated for worldwide use, ie 100 to 225 VAC (in a certain amount of current). Review its AC adapter unit - if it says 100 to 225 (or higher) V (volts), then that's fine (no problem). However, if by some chance it is said 115 V (or something like that as 90 to 120 V) in it - then yes you can fly the AC adapter and possibly damage the laptop supply of energy on board. Since not smoke The first time you connect to, and has been in operation, we can probably assume that the AC adapter to your laptop is rated for a "universal" or "world" application. Enjoy your new Sony Vaio. Nice machine!
