Sony Vaio Internal Hard Drives

When should I replace my internal hard drive? About 2 years old ...?
I bought my top-of-the-line Sony Vaio for about 2 years almost of $ 2,100. It has a 400 GB internal hard drive, and has recently begun to make more noise than usual. Regarding the operation, has never had a problem. I recently requested and received the original recovery discs from Sony and I think my system clean and starting fresh because of the dozens of installations and removals software and hardware. I upgrade my RAM and video card in the coming days. Would it be worth my money to replace my hard drive, or should I leave things as are? I am also a college student so my money is far from unlimited. Thanks for your input!
All electronic devices have MTBF (maximum time before failure). I learned that most of my computer stuff fails in about 2 years of service. I suggest you replace your hard disk before start losing value data.
