Intel Core 2 Duo vs. Intel Pentium Dual-Core?
What is the difference between Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Pentium dual core? I bought a Sony Vaio 2 GB of RAM with 160GB HD and Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor for $ 699. I returned the laptop and decided to buy the updated version of $ 999 with 4GB RAM and 250GB HD and Intel Core 2 Duo processor. After setting up I noticed that the new laptop is much slower than my previous laptop. Why? What is the difference between processors? Which is better?
Much slower? There should be. Definitely should run faster and smoother with the update processor and RAM. The Core 2 Duo is better than the Pentium processor because it has a higher cache and clock speed. If your computer is running slower, may be due programs that have in it. I recently upgraded my Core 2 Duo E7200 2 GB of RAM to 4GB, and really made a difference in speed. It made me sad. Try deleting all junk programs that came into the team and see if it works faster. Your upgrade should be definitely faster than the first purchase.
