CPU / RAM, which should I go?

Hi all Im looking for a notebook that can replace my desktop, but still reasonably portable (Display max 16.4inch). I will use to play (not serious), Internet surfing, watching bluerays (on screen and on TV you need an HDMI output socket) and listen to music while traveling. budget is around £ 1200 bail Abit I Series Sony Vaio new F because they have many specifications that appear to meet my needs and my GF is currently a CW Vaio and loves. If anyone has any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, but my main question is this: Given my needs that I had indicated that would be best for me? Intel ® Core (TM) i7 processor i7-720QM (quad core) (1.60 2.80 GHz) with 6 MB cache and L2/L3 ------------ 4GB of 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM and Intel ® Core ™ i5-i5 Processor 520M (2.40 GHz) with 3MB of cache and L2/L3 ------------- 6 GB of DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz Thx in advance

The CPU is not the neck bottle in games or watching bluerays. But both the procs that you mentioned will have no problem with any of the games developed for the next four or five years longer than the lifespan of a laptop. The current core i7 is much more capable chip then current corei5. I would not say it is "a 20% better "as" Dath Vader "he says. That's like comparing an eight-lane highway from a 6-lane highway and 25% think it is best simply because more lanes. The real reason is because there is less traffic lights and cross and higher overall KPH. SMEs with chips and chipsets. I5 Core chip is a mass, but there will be a time when the technologies overlap each other slightly. At this present time, Core i5 not fully support triple channel memory and integrated PCI-E controller. Ramm The amount is not much in the purchase of a computer. You can install you own ramm for much less of a MFGR will charge you to install it. And as you found it, companies put more into one system, because an innocent person might think that because it has more the better. Plus 4G is sufficient. True, there is no such thing as too much, but there is a point of "diminishing returns" and with the current software 4G is the "sweet spot". Even if you wanted to 6G, which is a process for 5 minutes improving and would be cheaper to do it on their own. You did not mention the video card. If you are a player, that is their most important investment. It's something you can not change yourself. You are locked into it for the life of the computer. Watch out for the purchase of a card simply by the large number of ramm they say on the card. Many models sharing Ramm, not described, trying to deceive innocent people is better than it really is. You did not mention the motherboard. Technology chipset uses a notebook is just as important as the processor. I5 In corei7 and currently have their own chipsets, but for people who buy the most Core2Duo people are asking about yahooQA, there is a big difference. The companies will put a "fast" chip in a crummy motherboard and an innocent person purchase only on the basis of buying the wrong computer specifications, because they pose a faster chip automatically equals a better team. No. Although you can see blurays your computer to an HDTV, I would not do much. HDMI is not mechanically robust. It is very easy to damage the port. If the skin of someone accidentally on the wire, which is an easy thing to do, you will ruin the harbor. If the ruin of the port, which is NOT covered by the hardware warranty. You will to pay for the replacement of an entire mortherboard. which is almost the price of a new computer. Another possibility is that the table fall off the platform and crack the LCD panel also not covered by the hardware warranty. In the corporate world, we see too much of it, but my friend who works independently see dozens of these each week. Just buy REAL blue ray player to connect to your TV. They're cheap now. TOO many people do not realize that taking a bunch of video you can put a strain on the motherboard and video subsystem. (On a Sony, should not have problems too, but many readers buy YahooQA crummy system will read your question and not acer is built to the same quality as your Sony). This last warning is not so much for you, but to protect others who might be reading your question. Sony are well constructed, (but a little more than a price). It should last several years of use without problems, so do not cheap out on a good vid card. You should also look at Dell XPS, the envy of HP and Alienware. Games are better and more reliable. Good luck!
