Problem with external monitor laptop?

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop and my Dell LCD display connected no longer works. I have connected before and works well. I make the same configuration, such as connecting to the laptop and a power outlet and the establishment as an extension of my desk. But lately, no apparent reason, it doesn't show anything. I turn it on, put the power light dimly lit, shows the color test [Red / Blue / Green bars] and then stays in black, without light.

Press the Fn key simultaneously on your notebook by pressing F8/F7 check w / keys c is the CRT or TV icon printed on it and press again until it has a screen on the monitor, if the problem persists in trying to check the display settings (Start-Settings-CONTROL PANEL-DISPLAY-settings-Advance) and modify the settings
