What Laptop should I buy? I am a student entering in September in Comp Sci. So a Mac is out of the question?

Ive looked online at Staples Costco Futureshop and BestBuy. Any thoughts on extended warranties for these places? I like the Sony Vaio - http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10124963&catid = (Although I think at best buy its cheaper 3 year warranty. I'ma bit of a player, but I prefer a decent laptop with long battery life that I can use my desktop for my game if I have time next year. Would you like to have an HDMI port since I'm an avid film / TV Watcher and can connect to my TV. Although not a priority, especially once they start school im looking to spend MAX 1200 with a 3 year warranty. and a laptop prolly 800-900 dollar and Im going to be buying in Canada
