DVD-CDRW can read CD-ROMs, audio CDs, rewrite CD-R, but not movie DVDs.?
Sony Vaio Laptop (PCGV505AXP) Window XP Pro: DVD-CDRW can read CD-ROM, audio CD, rewrite CD-R, DVD, but not insert disc. When movie disc DVD, the unit LED flashes and hear the sound of engine, but some do not show anything on E: as empty and no error message. MORE OF THE PROBLEM: I checked in disk check, manager devices (The drive is working properly), reinstall the Update Driver (eSupport), was another DVD software / decoder (Magic DVD) and update window. Still not working, just that I have no system restore point to restore the last good work. Do I have to "Application Recovery, System Recovery" or both (I have 3 CD-ROM of each). Because I'm afraid I will lose some programs and data, if I make the this is the recovery or hardware problem. Kinldly please help and advise. Thank you very much. ===================
First check the disk to make sure you read (try it on a DVD player). Place the disc in the DVD / CDRW after stops spinning and the light goes out - click on the drive DVD / CDRW and select Open. You should then see two folders (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS). Double-click the VIDEO_TS and then you should see a bunch of. IFO,. BUP, y. VOB files. Double-click the VIDEO_TS.IFO. If this opens the DVD with a DVD player application like Win DVD, then the program options to start DVD movie playback, once inserted. If not, then you should be able to right click on the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, select "Open With" and choose the program you want to use to play the DVD. You will need a DVD player software installed and windoze point where it is. If this makes sense (or has no sense) do not hesitate to write.
