Deleted CD / DVD! Need help Laymans pleeeease!?
I have a Sony Vaio W1 and was clearing my system until the other day and somehow so have removed my CD! agggh! Now when I enter a CD is not recognized and the drive has completely disappeared! Now, fashion studio so my knowledge PC is pretty basic (!) told me to run [regedit], but many fear computer language came and did not want to destroy my PC as well that .... I expected a kind, computer genius can help guide me through the steps to recover the drive (apparently not so difficult so have said?). Remember to talk sloooowly! Have you tried System Restore? Maybe if you tried to return a few days, when you know your system was in perfect working order, you can also completely restore things to clean. In Windows XP Home> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore> Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then select a restore point from the figures in bold on the calendar when you think your PC was last in perfect health. You can also go to the previous months if necessary. Good luck with it.
