My Sony Vaio says it has bluetooth, but it seems to work?

My Sony laptop has a Bluetooth settings control panel. Does I link this to my new Bluetooth stereo headphones with my Sony computer or do I have to buy more equipment? Each time you click the "New Connection" button another window pops up and says: "Bluetooth not ready" I'm so confused. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? Thank you.

You need to check if there is a switch to activate or deactivate Bluetooth connectivity on your laptop. Look around the edges of the computer for a switch. Also, search the bluetooth keyboard for a logo embossed on one of the keys.
