Sony Vaio Blue Screen Installing Xp

problem installing a new slave hard drive ...?
I am working to install a slave hard drive in my Sony Vaio desktop with Windows XP, we jumpers in what they believe is the correct position, but when I start the computer, a blue screen says' unmountable boot volume " and for some reason my computer let me get to the custom setup menu ... Does anyone know a way to help my situation?
If the units are sharing a cable, the new "slave" must be of the plug from the East, on a ribbon cable (if P-ATA and not SATA standard) The bridges that must be set a slave to the original unit must be in the stopper and the need to check that the jumpers are set to MASTER Many systems are shipped with this set the only thing left to work with 2 units
